Backyard Football 09 Review PC
There are a lot of football games out there to sort through and try out, but only one franchise has consistently tried to deliver a fun, pick-up-and-play experience that's accessible to kids: Backyard Sports. Touted as the only brand licensed by all the professional US sports leagues, Backyard Football '09 carries on the Backyard Sports tradition by letting major NFL athletes (in child form) play with a classic group of kids from the series. I had the chance to try out the game at an Atari event... Read More

Legendary Multiplayer Hands-on
We've already had a look at Legendary's campaign mode, and our recent look at the multiplayer was something of a surprise. Legendary eschews the typical capture the flag and deathmatch play styles in favor of "Safari," a mode that combines team-based gameplay with an infinitely spawning lycanthropic enemy horde. Safari mode involves killing as many werewolves as possible and collecting their Animus, a mystical force that powers a machine that can control the werewolves and thereby win the round.... Spore Exclusive Hands-On
ivilization begins with order, grows with liberty, and dies with chaos. These words from American philosopher Will Durant also hold true in the civilization stage of Spore, the upcoming strategy game from Will Wright and EA Maxis. We stopped by EA last week to get hands-on time with the civ stage as well as the final space stage as part of our exclusive coverage leading up to the September 7 release date. Be sure to check out our Spore Launch Center for additional coverage of the cell, creature,... Read More

Street Fighter IV Console Hands-On
After making us salivate over the arcade version for some time and finally confirming its perennial fighter would be coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Capcom took the wraps off the console version of Street Fighter IV. We had some hands-on time with the game at the Games Convention in Leipzig earlier today. Hadoken your heart out when Street Fighter IV comes to consoles. Anyone who's followed the... Read More

Bioshock Survivor Mode Hands-on cheats tipd
So, you've braved Big Daddies, killed splicers by the dozens and genetically engineered yourself to become a superhuman specimen that can fire electrical bolts and insects with a flick of the wrist. Think you've conquered everything there is with Andrew Ryan's domain, huh? Well, think again, particularly with the impending release of Bioshock on the PS3, which promises to be more expansive than ever before with brand new gameplay modes. We recently had a chance to go hands on with the new diffic... Read More

Hands-on Metal Slug 7
When it comes to classic arcade goodness, Metal Slug reigns supreme. With some of the most brutal gameplay and slickest 2D animation out there, the series has seen six "core" titles, and then a whole slew of variations, portable spin-offs, and compilations. With Metal Slug 7, SNK has delivered a seven-mission arcade experience on Nintendo's portable, and is trying to keep things classically simple, but still strong enough to be worth your cash.

Just like any of the previous Metal Slug g... Read More

Blitz The League II Hands-on
Back in the day, the word "Blitz" meant fast-paced football mixed with insane arcade action. After an afternoon with Blitz: The League II, it would appear that Midway's trying to get some other words associated with the franchise -- namely, "gruesome," "disgusting," and "graphic."

Frankly, I couldn't be happier with the decision.

After a fumble two years ago, Blitz is back and boasting that it's dropped the crap that didn't work before, refined the stuff people liked, and adde... Read More

Legendary Hands-on
What would happen if you somehow got a hold of Pandora's box, and were tricked into opening it? That's the tale that Legendary aims to tell when Gamecock and Spark Unlimited bring it to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on September 30th.

I had the chance to check out the PlayStation 3 build for the first time today and was able to run it through part of what is the sixth area of the game, situated in downtown London. Starting out in a command facility, I picked up some weapons and amm... Read More

Skate 2 Hands-on EA xbox 360 PS3
Last year, EA and Black Box redefined the skating genre with Skate by creating one of the most natural (and, arguably, realistic) control schemes that we've ever seen in a sports title. By assigning tricks to the right analog stick instead of face buttons, move inputs mimicked the actual rotations and flips of a real skateboard, bringing gamers closer to being on an actual board than ever before. Given its commercial and critical success, a follow-up was only a matter of time, and now Skate 2 is... Read More

Far Cry 2 Hands-on
While Crytek, developer of the original Far Cry, is off tinkering with its Crysis IP, Ubisoft Montreal is busy polishing and hammering out bugs in Far Cry 2, which focuses much more on open-world wandering than the first ever did. With a new engine, a new setting, and a new cast of characters, there's quite a bit different about the sequel. Many might remember how the original Far Cry started off with a kind of pseudo free-roaming island exploration setup and then funneled into more linea... Read More
